The Wine
Old vines can still deliver bright, fresh fruits as seen in the aromas of this wine, lifted with fennel and spice. The palate is succulent, yet intensely flavoured with ripe red berries, subtle oak, supple tannins and a long lingering finish. Enjoy now or cellar for 5-8 years. The Vineyard The grapes were dry grown on the outskirts of Greenock, home of some of the most extraordinary grapes. Vines were planted in the early 1960's in loamy topsoil over soft red clay. Cropped at 4 tonnes per acre, the vineyard was harvested on April 18 at 14.5 baume when optimum flavours and balance were achieved in the grape. The Winemaking Fermented on skins in an open fermenter for 7 days and then gently basket pressed. This small parcel of wine was then transferred to new and old French oak for 20 months of maturing. Once matured the wine was bottled unfiltered. |
