Wines - 2014 BB Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon - the king of the red varieties. Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon holds very dear place in of hearts. In this neck of the woods, it’s often overshadowed by it’s boisterous brother Shiraz, but there is nothing that warms the cockles of your heart like the rich, opulent fruit of a good Barossa Cabernet. There’s none of the pyrazines, those capsicum-like characters that you’ll find in the cooler regions. In their place you’ll just find pure, generous fruit, abundant ripe tannins and the gentle flow across the palate that only the climate of the Barossa can conjure up. We love it!
Deep ruby red in the glass with classic aromas of rich blackberry, black plum and blackcurrant fruit with hints of licorice, dark chocolate, baking spice, creme de cassis, earth and lighter wafts of purple flowers. The 2014 vintage gave us great density of fruit and this is apparent of the palate which shows excellent fruit weight with opulent black and dark berry fruits flowing across the palate. Plenty of structure her also with a curtain of fine, chalky tannin cascading down supporting the ripe fruit and a lovely line of elegant acidity providing the drive towards a lingering finish. Try this one with roast lamb or more robust meat dishes and you’ll be doing well.
Picked on the 8th April by our Italian Wwoofers, these grapes were fermented naturally using wild yeast and left on skins for 22 days with gentle plunges to allow for the extraction of soft tannins. Basket pressed and put to 100% French Oak (8% new) for 14 months maturation.
